I've been creating for as long as I can remember, beginning with a macramé piece for a kindergarten art contest and moving to hand-drawn canvas shoes when I was in middle school in the 70s. Along the way I've dabbled in a variety of media, from pottery to encaustic painting and photography to knitting. Being creative is the expressive outlet for me that brings balance to my life.

Upon honing my art skills and seeing my signature style emerge, I've realized that the kids' market is the place for my designs. When creating patterns, I just start drawing and see where it takes me. Rather than inspiration, it's more like a feeling or a mood. That's what determines the color palettes, motifs and themes.

I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina with my husband (jeweler at Dogskin Studio), teen-aged son and Ella the Pug.
